Job Title:  Senior Technical Innovation Expert

As a Senior Technical Innovation Expert, you’ll lead complex innovation initiatives from ideation to concept validation, translating technical possibilities into compelling consumer-focused solutions. The position will lead breakthrough innovation in electronics, motor control, sensor integration, and display technology for consumer appliances. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise and strategic thinking to shape our future product portfolio and enhance our electronics innovation capabilities. This approach entails delivering expert knowledge and engineering resources in a defined technical domain, leveraging technology to drive the development of innovative, future-focused concepts.

The impact you’ll make:

• Key Responsibilities

  Innovation Leadership:

  • Lead future function development initiatives across innovation cycle - from ideation to concept mock-ups & validation.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into understandable functional models or frameworks, followed by detailed selection scorecards for stakeholder assessment.

  • Conduct cross-industry analysis to identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities in electronics, motors, sensors, and display technologies.

  • Conduct feasibility assessments to ensure concepts align with technical, production, and CAPEX requirements.

  Technical Excellence:

  • Build prototypes and test concepts to evaluate performance/cost optimization.

  • Investigate underlying physics and mechanisms driving performance improvements.

  • Develop alternative technical approaches and evaluate trade-offs between different solutions.

  • Create tech. specifications that bridge innovation concepts with commercial viability (targeting >55% IGM).

  Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Clearly explain technical and functional concepts to cross-functional teams & senior stakeholders.

  • Work closely with product development, design, & business teams to bring breakthrough ideas to life.

  • Pursue and utilise technology partnerships across and beyond the consumer appliance sector.

  • Develop and sustain global specialist networks in electronics and related fields.

  Agile Innovation:

  • Use agile methodologies to accelerate innovation and reduce time-to-market.

  • Remain up-to-date with emerging technologies and actively cultivate professional relationships both within and outside the organization.

  • Participate in developing Innovation Platform strategies that influence performance, quality, and cost.

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:

• Education: A Master's degree (M.Sc. or M.Eng.) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Control Systems is preferred. Candidates with an Industrial Design Engineering background, specifically in Consumer Electronics, are highly desirable.

• Experience: Minimum of 8 years in consumer-focused product development, collaborating with cross-functional teams on large-scale projects, including those involving internal and external third-party technology partners.

• Specialization: Extensive expertise in electronics, motor, sensor, and display technologies, with a demonstrated capability to convey complex technical concepts as clear consumer advantages.

• Innovation Background: Strong involvement with innovation platforms and processes in the consumer sector.

• Industry Focus: Experience in consumer appliances is highly valued. Candidates with backgrounds in medical and personal health consumer products are also encouraged to apply.

• Preferred Institutions: Candidates who have graduated from Industrial Design (Industrieel Ontwerp) or comparable top-tier programmes, and who possess domain-specific expertise, are highly regarded.

• Skills & Competences:

• Skilled in strategic, analytical, and conceptual thinking, with expertise in design thinking and agile frameworks.

• Focused on achieving results, demonstrates initiative, and maintains careful attention to detail.

• Experienced in developing mock-up concepts and building functional model prototypes.

• Effective communication and presentation abilities for technical and business audiences.

• A consumer-centric strategy focuses on understanding users and efficiently addressing their needs.

• An ability to handle stress and maintain an even temperament.

• Understanding of commercial and business principles to inform product strategy development.

• Works effectively in teams, demonstrates initiative, and has experience with entrepreneurship.
