About the role:
In this role you have the opportunity to ensure quality and reliability of our future Coffee products. As member of the project team you will continuously review the project quality status and guide the team on quality aspects towards a successful launch. This means challenging and influencing project members on decisions that affect quality, of course in balance with costs and time.
The impact you’ll make:
- Ensure that product designs meet quality requirements and compliance standards at each milestone of the project.
- Develop and execute the design release, verification, and validation plan.
- Manage product safety, compliance, regulatory, and approbation-related activities.
- Capture learnings from earlier projects—both from the development process and from technical issues/return rate improvements—and initiate improvements in the current or new project.
- Communicate regularly on the quality status and monitor the predicted return rate throughout the project execution.
- Drive quality‑related problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Predict and monitor product quality after launch in collaboration with the Post‑Market Surveillance (PMS) team.
- Cooperate with Procurement, I&D, and SQ to define and achieve quality targets.
You will be part of the Development Quality team within the Coffee business and will work on coffee appliances from initial design concepts to mass production as part of a multidisciplinary team. The position is based in Drachten, the Netherlands, within a highly international coffee team consisting of around 200 enthusiastic innovation specialists.
The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) or related studies.
- A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in similar roles within a complex environment.Strong problem‑solving skills, with solid technical understanding of products and quality‑related issues.
- Experience in balancing risks and opportunities of innovative solutions, and in applying Design for Six Sigma.
- Conceptual thinker with strong analytical and data‑driven skills, combined with a hands‑on mindset.
- A team player and excellent communicator and motivator, skilled in managing interpersonal processes (fluent in English).
- Well‑developed conflict‑management abilities and independent leadership skills, with the confidence to proactively say “no” when needed.
- A quality mindset and experience with Q‑tools and improvement methods such as SPC, FMEA, 5 Why, 8D, etc.
- Experience with safety, compliance, and regulations (IEC 60335, RoHS, REACH, Food Contact) is preferred.
- Understanding of product development project management and the role of Quality within it.
- Ability to manage a diverse scope of responsibilities.
