Job Title:  Mechanical Engineer

About the role:

In this role you develop new products and systems, including all subcomponents and modules, while collaborating with other functions to define requirement lists and system or module specifications. You work closely with colleagues, experts, and suppliers to develop materials and processes. You drive and coordinate the release of drawings and specifications to suppliers. You lead the creation, design, improvement, and finalization of pilot samples during the early stages of projects. Overall, you demonstrate strong drive and a strong commitment to quality.

The impact you’ll make:

•   Leading, coaching, and stimulating the multidisciplinary team of product mechanical engineers and developers within product development projects.
•   Developing and realizing product architectures for coffee machines, including requirement definition and development.
•   Releasing products, components, and modules for mass production.
•   Planning, executing, and steering the mechanical product development process through structured methods, while managing cross‑functional aspects as a technical project leader.
•   Identifying gaps and implementing improvements to elevate development approaches, supported by tools such as FMEA, risk assessments, etc.
•   Supervising a multidisciplinary team (consisting of function development engineers, product research specialists, supplier and manufacturing experts, and mechanical engineers) and acting as the technical counterpart for commercial managers and designers to realize the most attractive appliances, as well as serving as the information and coordination interface between the technical team and the project manager.

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:

•  Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
•  4+ years of experience in mechanical product development (nice to have: experience in consumer electronics).
•  Experience in managing (international) multidisciplinary projects (nice to have: preferably in the Business‑to‑Consumer sector).
•  Familiarity with state‑of‑the‑art development techniques and CAD (Unigraphics NX).
•  Knowledge of designing mechanical constructions in plastic, rubber, and sheet metal, and preferably familiarity with manufacturability aspects (mold/tooling design, molding processes, as well as design for assembly and testing), analysis (strength, stiffness), and drive mechanisms.
•  Knowledge of FMEA and development tools (tolerance analysis, Design for Manufacturing, etc.).
•  Knowledge of requirement creation and management.
•  Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (nice to have: experience as a Green Belt).
•  Ability to balance innovation with practical realization.
•  Determination in decision‑making and independence.
•  Leadership skills and the ability to coordinate and support a team of experts.
•  Experience with SAP is a strong asset.
•  English level: Intermediate.
•  A team player with strong coordination, communication, and coaching skills.
