Job Title:  Kitchen Appliances Pre-development, Testing and Engineering Lead

About the role:

• Defines the future of existing platform(s) and/or the need of new platforms to drive Performance, Quality and costs.
• Creating the platform strategy for Kitchen Appliances and driving development of new technology, she/he has a pivotal role in maximizing value potential and innovativeness of platforms, following VCP priorities and Product category strategy.
• Through Testing & Verification, ensures required performance and quality of products.
• As KA Engineering lead, ensures the delivery of the engineering content in the E2E project portfolio on time and on quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Links Kitchen Appliances product category strategy (drivers, price points) with consumers’ desirability and insights to generate the category platforms strategy in cooperation with product managers
• Understands how to optimize the full value potential of existing platforms. Defines needed improvements and oversees their executions (Performance / Quality / Cost)
• When relevant, details out new platform needs according to concepts, functions and solutions required.
• Owns the Kitchen Appliances technology roadmap and development of new functions to enable new product propositions.
• Drives the development of new to the world technical concepts into new platforms in close collaboration with Product Management, Consumer Research and Marketing
• Envisions scaling up of function solutions being developed, and drives standardization of components and solutions
• Supports scouting team in assessment of supplier-based innovation and their platforms according to the (sub)category platform strategy.
• Through Testing & Verification, ensures required performance and quality of platforms and products for all Kitchen Appliances, leveraging the global network of internal and external testing facilities.
• Translates Product Needs into technical scope and development needs for new product opportunities defined by Head of Product and Product Directors
• Ensures the delivery of cross-functional product engineering content, on time, on quality

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:

• Education: Engineering background at academic level, in applied science domains such as mechanical engineering, applied physics, applied chemistry, food engineering., electronics, software…
• Experience: 10 years+ of experience in comparable senior R&D roles, product development, lab management, with demonstrated experience in the development of new technologies and products for mass market application.
• Skills: Demonstrable platforming / pre-development mindset and familiarity with pre-development processes. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Strong analytical skills
