Health and Safety Support

About the role:

As a Health & Safety Support agent at our Orăștie factory, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, compliant and prevention-focused working environment. You will interpret Romanian Occupational Health & Safety legislation and translate legal and company requirements into practical actions, procedures and controls across the factory. 

Working closely with employees, contractors and operational stakeholders, you will conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections and incident investigations while ensuring that corrective actions are effectively implemented. The position combines independent ownership of Health & Safety activities with the critical assessment of existing practices and effective stakeholder collaboration to drive continuous workplace safety improvements. 

The impact you’ll make:

Key Responsibilities 

• Implementing and monitoring local Health & Safety requirements in line with Romanian legislation and Versuni standards 

• Interpreting applicable legislation and translating legal requirements into practical procedures, instructions and preventive measures 

• Conducting workplace inspections, occupational risk assessments and internal Health & Safety audits 

• Identifying unsafe conditions and practices, recommending corrective measures and monitoring actions through completion 

• Investigating workplace incidents and near misses, including root cause analysis and the definition of preventive and corrective actions 

• Developing, updating and maintaining Health & Safety documentation, risk assessments, work instructions and mandatory records 

• Delivering Health & Safety training and providing practical guidance to employees and contractors 

• Supporting fire prevention, emergency preparedness and evacuation activities 

• Contributing to environmental compliance activities, including waste management, documentation and mandatory reporting 

• Supporting the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 requirements 

• Collaborating with operational teams to strengthen safety awareness and promote ownership of workplace safety 

KPI’s 

• Legal and internal compliance: Timely implementation of applicable Health & Safety requirements 

• Risk prevention: Completion and quality of workplace risk assessments, inspections and preventive actions 

• Corrective action management: Timely closure and effectiveness of agreed corrective actions 

• Incident management: Quality and timeliness of incident and near-miss investigations 

• Training effectiveness: Completion of required Health & Safety training and maintenance of accurate records 

• Safety improvement: Contribution to reducing workplace risks, unsafe practices and recurring incidents 

• Audit readiness: Accuracy and completeness of Health & Safety documentation and records 

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:

• At least 2-3 years of professional experience in Occupational Health & Safety, preferably in manufacturing, production, engineering, logistics or another operational environment 

• Strong working knowledge of Romanian Occupational Health & Safety legislation 

• Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation and convert legal requirements into practical workplace measures 

• A relevant SSM qualification in accordance with Romanian legal requirements, or a qualifying Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety 

• Experience conducting occupational risk assessments, workplace inspections or internal audits 

• Experience investigating incidents or near misses and following corrective actions through completion 

• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills 

• An independent and proactive working style, with the ability to prioritize activities and follow actions through 

• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to advise and influence employees, contractors and operational stakeholders 

• Professional proficiency in Romanian and English 

• Availability to work primarily on-site at the Orăștie factory 

• Risk assessment training or certification is considered an advantage 

• A Cadru Tehnic PSI or other relevant Fire Safety qualification is considered an advantage 

• An Environmental Responsible qualification is considered an advantage 

• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 is considered an advantage
